Experience Borthwick in August - A Stone's Throw from the World's Leading Festival City

As August approaches, we are all looking forward to seeing the streets of our beautiful Scottish capital brimming with entertainment and explosive parades of colour as the Edinburgh Festival Season bursts into life.

Transforming every corner of this historic city with an eclectic mix of music, theatre, dance, art, literature and comedy for six exhilarating weeks, the International Festival, Fringe, Book, Art and Jazz Festivals - and the spectacular Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo - will feature an awe-inspiring 3000 events and 25,000 performers for the enjoyment of over 4 million attendees from 70 different countries.

It's easy to see why Edinburgh continues to claim its crown as the world's leading Festival City.

Only 30 minutes from Edinburgh

With Borthwick Castle sitting just 30 minutes' drive or train ride from the city centre, we are looking forward to welcoming guests for our exclusive short-stay Festival packages in August, designed to turn any visit to Edinburgh into a magical Scottish Castle experience. Borthwick can offer visitors the very best of both worlds: the chance to revel in all that our thrilling city has to offer in August, with an escape to tranquillity and the opportunity to unwind in luxury within the ancient stone walls of our opulent 'home from home'.

600 years of breath-taking Scottish history await, with the chance to sleep like royalty within one of our 11 beautiful bedchambers, enjoy fine dining and explore the Castle's hidden staircases and corners.

In keeping with Borthwick's 600 year history and traditions, we have also planned a series of special Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo packages which include tickets to select performances of this world-renowned sell out show.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, the Tattoo was founded in 1949 to showcase the skills and creative flair of musicians and performers from the British Armed Forces, Commonwealth and National Military Regiments from 48 different countries around the world - and it is always one of the most sought after tickets amongst festival audiences.

For those seeking activities to complement their Festival experience, Borthwick can offer everything from croquet, boules and archery on the lawn to whisky tastings and golf, all set against the breath-taking backdrop of the surrounding Midlothian countryside.

And should Festival fatigue set in, we can offer guests the chance to simply relax. Whether that's a quiet corner in our majestic yet cosy State Room with a glass of champagne or a delicious afternoon tea, or a dram and a good book by the fire after dinner in our Great Hall.

Whatever your Festival dreams are made of, a warm welcome awaits you at Borthwick Castle.
