RestaurantThe candlelit Great Hall is a magnificent setting for an intimate dinner for two or a banquet for up to 75 guests. In either case the experience is unforgettable. with its high vaulted ceiling, enormous fireplace and the minstrel gallery at one end, it is Scotland's most beautiful medieval Great Hall.

Enjoy an aperitif and study the menu in comfort beside the roaring log fire.

Choose from our three course set menu which changes daily. Your meal will be prepared by our gourmet chef who describes his cuisine as "modern British with a strong bias for Scotland's natural larder". Select a bottle of fine wine from our comprehensive wine list, perhaps rounding off your meal with something from our extensive selection of malt whiskies.

A sample evening dinner menu:

  • Cream of Cauliflower & Stilton Soup
  • Smoked Salmon & Greenland Prawns served with a Brandy Mayonnaise set on a Bed of Seasonal Salad Leaves
  • Grilled Fillet of Aberdeen Angus Beef Cooked Medium topped with a Rich Chasseur Sauce

OR

  • Sautéed Breast of Lothian Chicken Topped with a Creamy Sauce of White Wine & Asparagus
  • Fresh Summer Fruit Salad served in a Brandy Snap Basket with White Belgium Chocolate Ice Cream and Double Cream
  • Rich Roast Coffee & Truffles

RestaurantAfter your meal our staff will be happy to take you on a tour of the castle and tell you about its history and legend.

A children's menu is also available from £10.00

We are very happy to cater to any specific dietary requirements – please discuss in advance.

Occasionally, if a large party is dining in the Great Hall, dinner for two will be served in the Minstrels' Gallery.
