To celebrate the premiere of ‘Mary, Queen of Scots’, Borthwick Castle joyfully lowers
the drawbridge and welcomes you
to an exceptional evening of
regal medieval delights.

Surround yourself in the extraordinary comforts of our recently refurbished castle,
experiencing Borthwick Castle as Mary did.  
 

Power-play, intrigue and passion marked Mary's life and we are delighted to invite Mary Meanders to join us for the evening, and she will share her very best stories of the Queen with us. 
 

The evening begins in the sumptuous State Room with one of our specially created Borthwick cocktails. Afterwards, we descend into the splendid Great Hall for a magnificent banquet of six courses by chef Derek Johnstone, followed by what the Queen loved to do most:
make merry in the company of friends.

Selection of the finest French & British oysters naturally served with shallot mignonette, lemon & tabasco

Fine tart of woodland mushrooms and tarragon, sweetbreads
and poached corn fed chicken

 

Soupe a l’oignon à la française
Roscoff onion soup cooked in Brittany apple cider, 
reduced cream & comet cheese crouton 

 

Pot–au-feu
Slow cooked shin of Scotch beef with salted ox tongue, bone marrow with winter vegetables & Sauce Albert

Miscellany of chef’s petits fours, served with
Borthwick-selected tea and coffee

Bedchambers will be available for £840 which includes the Medieval Banquet and wine for two, with traditional Scottish breakfast in the Great Hall the following morning
