RED ROSE

A WARM AND COSY BEDCHAMBER
FOR LOVERS

History suggests that this room witnessed both passion and tragedy, with a haunting story of a young chambermaid murdered with her illegitimate son. In her memory we maintain a red rose in the room.

THE ROOM

This is a warm and cosy bedchamber for lovers with its beautiful rich rose and red colours, and a hand carved oak royal canopy bed, facing a large medieval fireplace where you can warm yourself
at the log stove.

The smallest door in all the rooms leads to the shower wet room in the Castle wall. Standing alone in an alcove past the rich drawn velvet curtains is a wonderful renaissance style bath from which you can gaze out of the window or look up at the only surviving medieval ceiling mural in the castle.

The safe remains where the clan chancellor is said to have stored family gold.
